Biography

Diego Caterbetti was born in Loreto on 15 July 1997 and grew up in Monte San Giusto, inland from Macerata. It is a province far from any music circuit, and the first platform is the one everybody has to hand: from 2014 he posts his tracks on YouTube.

In those years the reference point is not punk yet: it is Italian rap and the American emo trap scene, Lil Peep above all. But the records he grew up on — blink-182, Sum 41, Green Day — stay in the background, and will resurface a few years later.

After school he moves to Milan. 2017 brings the first official single, “X Season”, alongside “Art Attack Freestyle” — a freestyle put out online that never entered the streaming catalogue. The following year he signs to Yalla Movement, Jake La Furia’s label, and puts out “Xanny” and “Dormi”.

2019 brings “Non fidarti”, “Tu che ne sai” with Zoda and “California”. It is also the year he opens a Twitch channel: daily streams, loose conversation and songs played on the spot, building a community before the sound has found its final shape.

On 6 March 2020 the debut EP ALO/VE arrives, six tracks that close out the rap phase. A few months later “Settembre” marks the turn: distorted guitars, a straight backbeat, the shape of a pop punk song.

2021 is the year that direction becomes a project. “Mamma non mi parla”, “Spezzami il cuore” and “Punkabbestia” come out months apart and lay the ground for the first album.

REBEL comes out on 4 March 2022 on Thamsanqa, produced by Renzo Stone and Andrea Bonomo. Ten tracks, under half an hour, no attempt to broaden the subject: it is a record about family, the provinces, wasted nights and anger, in the vocabulary of someone who has just lived through them.

It enters the chart at number twenty-two and opens the first proper touring season. In September a deluxe edition adds four tracks, including two acoustic re-readings that foreshadow a way of playing that will keep coming back.

2023 opens acoustically: from 18 January the Rebel Unplugged run takes the repertoire into theatres and cinemas. That same month “Che benessere!?” with Lo Stato Sociale appears, and in February “Porno” with Finley: two collaborations that place NASKA across different generations of Italian music.

La mia stanza lands on 5 May and debuts at number eleven. The summer is the busiest so far — MI AMI, Rock in Roma, Slam Dunk Italy — and in September the album returns in a deluxe edition with four new tracks, including “Tranquillo mai” with MadMan.

The third album arrives on 11 October 2024 and is the most constructed of the three: a sideshow of grotesque figures behind which the same themes remain. “Berlino”, released in May with Gemitaiz and Greg Willen, is its most exposed track.

The Freak Show enters the chart at number nine, and on 7 December it takes NASKA onto the stage of the Unipol Forum in Assago for the first time.

In 2025 the distortion switches off. February brings a reading of Fred Buscaglione’s “Guarda che luna”, March the single “Milano”, and then, on the 21st, the acoustic EP Milanconia: seven tracks, including “Quando sarò morto” with J-Ax.

A theatre tour accompanies the EP and closes on 28 March at Dingwalls in London, the first documented date outside Italy. July brings “Nato nel posto sbagliato”, from the soundtrack of the film “Tutta colpa del rock”, and November the single “Favola”.

On 10 September 2026 the NASKA CLUB TOUR 2027 is announced: eight Italian dates in April, from Venaria Reale to Bologna. After theatres and arenas, the return is to a tighter, more direct setting.
